      • I discuss a recent email conversation I had with “Natedawg”, a candidate needing help getting his head “wrapped around the material” after two unsuccessful attempts. Natedawg’s approach seemed scattered to me and lacked a solid foundation. I explain the importance of establishing a solid foundation and finding a strategy that will allow for repetition, repetition, repetition and also instill confidence on Exam day.
      • Mona sends in a question about the difference between regulations and laws. I explain the California Code of Regulations has 28 titles and should not be confused with state laws and reference the publication put out by the California Building Standards Commission, Guide to Title 24 (be sure to download and review this). California Law consists of 29 codes and the California Health and Safety Code is just one of the codes.
      • Sang sends in a question about DSA providing for accessibility review for OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) projects. The Guide to Title 24 indicates that DSA does provide accessibility review, however that appears to be misinformation based upon a call to DSA and experience of candidates with hospital and OSHPD experience.

      • In this episode, I discuss ONLY one thing,  the buzz about another statistical analysis currently being performed and delaying test results to 60 days at least. I also discuss the pending June 1 of immediate results (which I believe will be delayed). I give my thoughts on the process and offer speculation about what this means to those candidates taking the Exam soon.

A candidate found information from the December CAB meeting minutes and sent it to me so I’ve posted it here. (Shout out to Craig for finding the info!)

It explains that there are three tests, Form A, Form B, and Form C and they implemented Form C recently which is the reason for the current statistical analysis.

It also appears, according to the minutes, that CAB is aiming to begin releasing results immediately after the Exam has been taken beginning June 1, 2012.

However, here is the problem. CAB needs candidates to take the Exam over the next month or so to have enough exams taken to perform the analysis (this was a problem in the past with the first statistical analysis). BUT with a June 1 date looming with the possibility of IMMEDIATE test results, I would imagine most candidates will wait until June to take the Exam.

If CAB sees a  decline of tests being taken soon, that could potentially delay the results of the analysis, which could in turn delay the June 1 goal of immediate results. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

What affect will this have on your own Exam? Will you reschedule and wait until June? Feel free to post your comments below.
